2022 Toyota Corolla Cross Overview

What to Expect

Though it shares a similar name and platform as our excellent small sedan, the new 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross will deliver more space inside, a heightened ground clearance and better all-around utility and versatility for your travels. Even as a compact crossover, the cabin of the new Corolla Cross is remarkably spacious, and you can open up the feel of the interior even further with the optional moonroof. The rear seats also fold down easily, expanding the space you'll have for all sorts of cargo. Even with a larger cabin and cargo area, the Corolla Cross shares several design choices with its sedan counterpart. If you've been driving a regular Corolla for your daily Baltimore commutes and are looking to upgrade to a larger, more-powerful vehicle, this crossover is worth considering.

Sharing one of the engine options found with the smaller Corolla, the new 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which delivers a smooth and reliable 169 horsepower. With options to either stick with the base front-wheel drive or to add the available AWD system, the Corolla Cross can deliver all sorts of capabilities through various weather patterns and on a variety of terrains. You'll also earn up to 32 mpg combined highway and city driving, which makes this a thrifty crossover that makes just as much sense for your daily commuting as it does for all sorts of other adventures. Finally, the Corolla Cross really displays its versatility with a max tow rating of 1,500 pounds.

As you'd expect out of the first crossover to share a similar name with the always well-equipped Toyota Corolla sedan, this newcomer is bound to be loaded with intelligent tech systems that keep you connected and entertained while you're on the go. Early information on the Corolla Cross is sparse right now, but we're confident there will be an intuitive touchscreen setup with smartphone integration, satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity and more. Keep in touch with us so you'll get a clearer picture of the kinds of smart Toyota tech you can expect throughout the trim level editions of the versatile and capable Corolla Cross.

Similarly, it will be of little surprise that the upcoming 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross is loaded with smart safety tech. The standard Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver assistance features will include forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, lane centering assistance and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims will more likely add extra safety features, and we'll be sure to fill you in when the Corolla Cross gets closer to its release date.
